So my partner and I are planning to visit Australia next year for a short holiday. Since I'm Australian, I don't need a visa. But my partner is Filipino and therefore needs a visa to visit. One of the requirements is a police certificate/Criminal record history (Hanzai Keireki Shoumeisho/Toko Shoumei). This is to prove she is of good character, isn't a criminal and can enter Australia without problems etc.
Now, according to the Prefectural police HQ's website (Hyogo Police), we can get this from there easily, provided we bring a passport, Residence card/ID, and a letter or some proof that we need the document. However, we called the Prefectural police HQ and even went there in person only to be told that they can't give us that document and that we need to contact the ministry of foreign affairs. We then contacted the ministry of foreign affairs, only to be told that they can't give us the document and we need to get it from the prefectural Police HQ… Do you see my problem?
I've no idea what we're supposed to do to get this document as neither of these places can give us accurate information. I was talking to a friend and he suggested to bring someone who is actually Japanese and can also speak English as their story might change if they are speaking with someone Japanese…
Does anyone here have any ideas of what to do or what we may be doing wrong?
Cheers
