I was filling my disembarkation card in the visit japan website, and in the questions section I am in doubt about question 3: “Do you presently have in your possession narcotics, marijuana, opium, stimulants, or other controlled substances, firearms, crossbow, swords, explosives or other such items?”. I take prescribed stimulants (Vyvanse) for ADHD treatment. I have applied with the center for Narcotics controll for a permit to import, but I want to know if I should answer yes or no to this specific question in the disembarkation card.

> Can I bring VYVANSE (*approved in the US, for ADHD treatment, also authorized in other countries named as ELVANSE, VENVANSE, ADUVANZ, TYVENSE, etc.) into Japan?
> Yes.
> Lisdexamfetamine, API of VYVANSE, is controlled as “Stimulants’ Raw Materials” under the Stimulants Control Act.
> You can import/export it into/from Japan, by getting an advanced permission.
As it is considered a stimulant (as noted above), you need to select YES and have your paperwork with you.
You do know that getting this prescribed here will be difficult, no? Vyvanse is only prescribed to children in Japan. If you’re an adult with ADHD, your only option is Concerta.
