I'm taking a 2-week trip to Japan in November. I have a hotel booked in Tokyo for the first two days, but I'm wondering how viable it would be to wing the rest of my trip and reserve hotels during the trip in whichever cities I want to stay in (rather than booking in advance). Has anyone else done this? What was the price/availability like?
I'd also like to stay at a Gero Onsen Ryokan. How far out do those usually need to be reserved?
