I'm going to be moving to Japan for a year to go to school and the school requires me to get a Japan Post Bank account to withdraw money from to pay for rent/dorm. I won't be having a job/income while over there. WIll it be possible for me to withdraw yen from the bank account as well? I've heard that I can withdraw cash, but my account won't have the function to pay for things via a card like a debit card. I am a bit confused about this.
My thought is to use my credit card when I can and then transfer money in bulk to the Japan Post Bank account to pay for rent and withdraw cash from. Is there something else I should consider? Thanks!
