Update: My employer is trying to control my resignation date even though I resigned as a Seishain

SECOND UPDATE: I am definitely planning to consult with a lawyer, but if anyone here is a lawyer/can offer legal advice, please let me know! Am always looking for advice on how I can best handle this situation. What they did was completely uncalled for and straight up illegal.

UPDATE: The situation got way worse than I thought it ever would. Basically, I went on my lunch break and did as everyone suggested. I spoke with the Prefectural Labor Board and they reassured me that my employer could in fact not legally do what they were saying. The Labor Board suggested that I reply to the email and indeed tell them that I am entitled to work until my requested resignation date. However, when I went back after my break, I could not access my work email or anything. My employer then talked to me and told me that they deleted my access to everything and that I had to leave immediately. They told me that they will pay me but they don’t know the exact amount yet because they were going to talk to their lawyers. They told me to leave immediately without saying anything to anyone.

I immediately went to the Labor Board in the city I work in and got advice from them. I am a bit hesitant to say what they said, because I am worried that my employer may have found this post.

But basically yeah, I never thought this would happen. Even though I got good advice from the Labor Board, I am wondering if there is anything else that I can do at this point.

I made a post yesterday about my employer trying to control my resignation, but there’s been some updates to the situation.

TLDR is that I submitted my intention to resign letter (退職届) to resign next month on the 18th, but my employer tried to say that since I am leaving, my position won’t actually exist anymore and that there’s no reason for me to stay until the middle of next month. Instead, my employer said my “date of termination” would be September 20th.

My employer is now trying to double down and say that after “consulting with their attorney”, the final resignation date is not determined by the employee, and the responsibility and decision of the company to decide the resignation date is according to the business’s needs. Now they are trying to say that my last day of work will be on September 12th, and that my exit date from the company will be September 20th, since I still have paid leave to use up.

Luckily, all of this conversation happened through email, so I have proof to show the Labor Board. I responded through email, and told my employer and HR that I would not be engaging in further conversation or agreeing to anything until I consult with the Labor Board.

I plan to call the Labor Board ASAP and explain the situation, but is there anything else I can do in the meantime? Can they legally do this?
