This is not for me rather a close friend.
Job and visas for her and the kid are not an issue and she already is in talks with a few companies who are willing. She left Japan about 10 years ago after living and working here for 5 years to give birth to her son, who is now 10, and she will be moving back to the Tokyo/Yokohama/Saitama area with him. She speaks Japanese and her son speaks a basic amount.
Are there any single mothers who could share some resources (honestly anything that helped) that I could send her? Could just be handy info or something that really helped you. She would appreciate the tips and I’d like to help out.
Many thanks!

Contact the city hall (ward office) of the city/ward she will live in. They can tell you everything.
Most programs outside of welfare are available to even foreigners with 1 year visas. But ask the city office people.
They will likely tell you all about it when you try to register a child without a spouse.
But if you want to use it as something to help you decide which job to take it might be worth it to call ahead and see which cities are better.
