Go go nihon accommodations vs searching on my own.

I need some input on if using go go nihon for finding an apartment is a better option than trying to search on my own, like are the apartments from the go go nihon program worth what you pay for them or will i get more bang for my buck by going it on my own? Ive done extensive research on my own but i cant see the apartments gogo nihon procures before paying for them so hopefully someone here has gone through their process and can provide the answer to my missing knowledge.also if there is a go to place apart from gaijinpot that would be helpful for me that isnt aswell know let me know.
