My terrible experience with C-plus co

Hello,

I’m a foreigner living in Tokyo. I recently moved here and used c-plus co. to help me find an apartment. I had a bad experience with them, and I think it’s important to share my feedback so others don’t have to.

I started looking for an apartment in Tokyo months before I moved since i know it would be difficult. At the beginning i was really not satisfied with the apartment the agent suggested to me. Fast forward to around one month and half before my arrival in japan. The agent I worked with changed a lot of behavior around that time. She started being really pushy and saying I needed to find an apartment right away. I know it’s hard for foreigners to find housing in Japan, so I decided to go with the apartment she suggested.

But I didn’t hear anything about the apartment for a while. Then, she told me it wouldn’t be ready for me when I got here and I’d have to stay in a hotel for two weeks. That was really frustrating because I had always told her my arrival date.

I finally arrive in Tokyo without any contract signed and huge shock: Now the agent is notifying me of a one month penalty i need to pay if i leave before two year. I already told her that i was staying only one year because of my visa so basically i will have to pay line month penalty no matter what.

I was worried that there wouldn’t be any other places to stay,so I decided to go ahead and sign the contract. When I got here, there were a few problems. First, the internet was super slow and unreliable, which made it hard for me to work online. Second, there were construction sites right in front of my apartment, and the agent hadn’t told me about them. That meant I had to deal with a lot of noise (it wakes me up everyday) and dust, even on weekends.

The agent assured me that the apartment would be cleaned before I moved in, but I had to do it myself.

My experience with C-Plus Co. was a bit of a letdown. The communication was poor, the service was lacking, and my expectations weren’t met. I hope sharing my feedback will help others avoid the same pitfalls when searching for an apartment in Tokyo. Oh, and by the way, all the keys and the locked system needed a battery replacement.

I take full responsibility for this situation and should have looked into other apartments sooner. So, I’m not complaining, but I do want to give a heads up to potential tenants and anyone looking for an apartment in Tokyo in general. Be careful when dealing with agents who are super pushy, even if you think there’s only a short time left.
