Hey all, going to be in Okinawa for a few days in October and my partner and I would like to go snorkeling.
We were looking at going with a guide in the Blue Cave, but heard it can be overcrowded to the point of it harming the experience.
I was looking at taking a ferry to Zamami, and I’d really love to be able to see some sea turtles, which sounds like it’s possible at Ama Beach in Zamami. Furuzamami Beach also looks great but there seem to have been access restrictions recently which have cut off most of the reef on that beach.
My questions:
Does anyone have any info on when the closures at Furuzamami will end? And if we go to Zamami, would you recommend getting a guided snorkeling tour or just renting gear and going off of the beach by ourselves?
Has anyone seen turtles at blue cave? Also is the overcrowding really that bad?
Also very open to any other general snorkeling spot/tour suggestions!
