    They call it a “huge scandal” because they judge it on their morality scale. Japanese people don’t feel the same outrage for prostitution, extramarital affairs, mistresses, or sex in general. At the company-expense-accounts-Ginza-cabaret-evenings level it’s a ubiquitous, and, for the most part, unforced money-for-sex transaction.

    Japan society – or at least the media – has one weird and deeply unfair exception though: female Talent, which for some reason must be seen to be impeccably virtuous.
