Japan sim card that works with foreign/Chinese phones?

Hi, I recently got a Oppo Find N phone. It is the best phone ever, however my UQ Mobile sim doesn’t work at all in the phone. I signed up for Mobal (which uses softbank) and that didn’t work either. However, my Google FI data only sim card works fine. But then I won’t have a Japan number. I am wondering if anyone knows what MNVO providers or sim cards will work with foreign phones? It should work because it supports various Japan bands, but it doesn’t seem to.

Also, on a side note, does anyone know of a way to get a Japan issued credit card (which Rakuten requires for phone service) without having a Japan bank account? I was thinking of a precard card, but supposedly those are not accepted for recurring monthly subscriptions such as phone. It seems that a lot of my foreign (US issued) cards often are declined, even at POS stores, kind of thought the whole point of a card was to be able to use it while traveling but I guess not in Japan?

  1. On your second question. Not a chance in a million years you will get a credit card in Japan without a Japanese Bank

  2. The most common issue is a missing or incorrect APN setting. You can go to UQ’s site to see what it is and try entering it in manually.

  3. I had a one plus in the past and volte was not supported on a software level.
This resulted in the SIM not able to connect to the network.
