Planning a trip to Japan from November 15-December 3rd. My plan is to do Tokyo, then Kyoto, then Osaka, then back to Tokyo for the final 3-4 days.
For context I'm a night owl and did a lot of nighttime walking at like 3am during the pandemic a few years back. So, I'd like to just walk around some nights in Tokyo and explore, taking in the ambience. I'm not a huge nightlife person but might like to indulge myself with a drink some nights as well.
Accordingly, my plan for accommodations was to stay in Ueno for the first lap of the trip. It's close to Ueno Park, within walkable distance to Akihabara and close to Asakusa/the River. So, I'd have plenty of options for evening exploration and the like
Then, for the last few days upon returning to Tokyo, I'm considering staying in Shinjuku. This is definitely more nightlife oriented, but I thought it'd be interesting to get out of my comfort zone and try a new area. Shinjuku certainly has the nightlife and it is adjacent to areas like Koenji.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this plan? This would be my first time in Japan so any advice is always welcomed, especially from fellow nightcrawlers 🙂
