I know it's early lol, but I think I want to try making some traditional Japanese dishes this new year. Last year was my first winter in Japan so beyond surface level internet research I wasn't sure what to expect – now I know the supermarkets will be closed for most of the week! I also have a friend visiting so it's a special occasion. I'd like to show her an authentic (or close to it) Japanese holiday.
I know most households order their Osechi Ryouri, but does anyone know where I can buy the decorative layered boxes, jubako? Ideally a cheap set, 3 layers is fine. I'm not looking for artisanal crafts. Will home stores have them? Daiso? Or will I have to order online?
Any help or insight would be appreciated.
