Itinerary Check (Kanazawa Region)

Hi all. Hubby and I will be travelling to Japan this November (his first trip to Japan!). We'll be spending a few days in the Kanazawa region. Initially when we looked into Kanazawa we didn't think we needed too many days there, but turns out there are so many things we'd like to see. So now I'm worried that we're cramming too much into a few days. Bear in mind that this is the first leg of our trip (3rd day in out of 22 days).

The first two days we've dedicated to DisneySea alone, and we only plan to stay half a day in DisneySea (prioritising getting into Fantasy Springs then leave in the evening). So hoping that way we won't be too tired right off the bat.

Day 1: Tokyo – Kanazawa

  • Train from Tokyo to Unazukionsen – 10:30am to 1:38pm
  • Kurobe Gorge Railway – 1:50pm – 4pm
  • Train to Kanazawa – Arrive at ~6pm

Day 2: Kanazawa

  • Visiting highlights in Kanazawa
    • Omicho Market
    • Kanazawa Castle
    • Kenrokuen Garden
    • Higashi Chaya

Day 3: Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route

  • Train + bus to Ogizawa (7am – 10:30am)
  • Alpine route
  • Train from Tateyama to Kanazawa

Day 4: Shirakawago + Takayama

  • Shirakawago (leave Kanazawa 8am, arrive 9:30am, leave 11:40am)
  • Takayama (arrive 12:30pm, leave 5:18pm)
    • Sanmachi Suji
    • Parts of Higashiyama trail
    • Hida beef lunch

Day 5: Leave Kanazawa to Kyoto in the morning.

  • We'll have 5 days in Kyoto so we will probably take a slow pace on this day to recharge from the last few days.

I'm aware Day 4 might be pretty tight but we've kinda decided we are ok just for a short visit to those places. Initially was going to skip Kurobe Gorge to have a chiller day on Day 1 but I'm still really keen despite the rail not being fully opened yet. Other main worry is that Day 3 and Day 4 itinerary are both a full day of moving about so… I guess main question is do you think this is doable? Thanks!
