Help with translation please

Hi reddit. I am currently writing a song for my mom who passed away earlier this year. She was okinawan and very proud of her heritage and culture. I saw online that "Guburi Sabira" means goodbye in Okinawan dialect.

Is just saying Guburi ok? Would that still mean goodbye? I am thinking of naming my song guburi

  1. That is actually simple question with a potentially complicated answer. Maybe but probably not. It also depends on what part of Okinawa your mom was from, as the main island had 3 dialects of the Okinawan language, with the Southern (Naha) dialect being the most dominant and the surrounding islands having their own dialects as well. I would send an email to the University of the Ryukyus Language department to ask and get a real answer. They used to have an online database with all the different dialects but I cannot find it anymore.
