[Spoilers] G1 34 Night Nineteen (8/17) Results– determining the final two

  • Robbie Eagles, Mikey Nicholls (w/Kosei Fujita) def Shoma Kato, YOSHI-HASHI – (9:26, Turbo Backpack)

  • “Mad Bastards” (Jake Lee, Gabe Kidd) def Tomoaki Honma, Hirooki Goto – (7:41, FBD)

  • Callum Newman, Jeff Cobb, KONOSUKE TAKESHITA def Jado, El Phantasmo, Shota Umino – (8:33, World Class Elbow)

  • Jado and ELP are still not fully on the same page, and it cost them. Shooter is continuing to play peacemaker.

  • Yoshinobu Kanemaru, SHO, Yujiro Takahashi, Ren Narita, EVIL (w/Dick Togo) def Ryusuke Taguchi, Tiger Mask, Boltin Oleg, Toru Yano, Hiroshi Tanahashi – (9:37, EVIL)

  • The House continue the beat down post-match. Shota Umino and ELP come out to make the save, returning the favor from last show. As he is retreating, EVIL asks ELP “Can you trust them?” and tells him “You can come;” presumably into the House (though I wouldn’t be surprised if EVIL was into edging/power play).

  • Drilla Moloney, Clark Connors, Taiji Ishimori def TAKA Michinoku, DOUKI, Taichi – (8:02, Bone Lock)

  • Francesco Akira, Great-O-Khan, HENARE def BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, Tetsuya Naito – (9:07, Ultima)

  • We do in fact appear to be building towards O-Khan challenging Naito for the WHC. Hiromu is also still looking to find a way to justify challenging for HENARE’s NEVER Openweight title.

  • KONOSUKE TAKESHITA joins the Japanese commentary team for the final two matches.

  • Winner’s Tournament Semifinals Match– B Block Bracket: Yota Tsuji def David Finlay (w/Gedo) – (28:05, a Yuya-esque double underhook suplex followed by a Gene Blaster)

  • Winner’s Tournament Semifinals Match– A Block Bracket: Zack Sabre Jr. (w/Kosei Fujita, Mikey Nicholls, Robbie Eagles) def
Shingo Takagi – (27:38, a ZSJ submission that probably has a long name but NJPW’s official records just say “knee bar”)

  • Yota Tsuji comes out to shake Zack’s hand in advance of their G1 Finals match.

  • Zack then takes the mic out into the crowd and tells them in Japanese “Ryogoku, see you tomorrow.”

Reminder if you see another basic results post after this one (especially one from a website trying to shill their zero-effort content) it is considered a repost and should be reported as such.

Also please report any posts that are either direct links to pirated versions of recent NJPW shows, or that link to Abema blogs that exist solely to distribute pirated content. “Breaks r/NJPW Rules” -> “Custom” -> write in the text box that it’s copyrighted content. We do not need TV Asahi on our asses.
