Hone Japanese or Tech skills first?

I (F22) am somewhere between N4 and N3 level Japanese. I’m on a spousal visa. I posted here several months ago and got some good advice but I wanted to ask again since my career goal is a little more specific.

I’d like to start building a foundation for a future career here in Japan. I’m set to start a B.A. in computer science online from WGU this January.

My question is, I obviously need to improve both my Japanese (goal is N2) and start working my way into tech, but practically speaking, which one should come first? I was advised from other redditors to focus on Japanese but I want to make sure, because commenters on similar threads said Japanese is useless without other skills.

As you can imagine I’m quite broke. Would it be better to focus on my Japanese so I can hold a slightly better job in the e near future (office/entry level IT, rather than convenience store staff), or should I focus on learning tech? Should I do both? Is an online degree even worth it?

Im also trying to find a full-time lower paying job I can start now that I can attain with my Japanese level, if anyone has any suggestions.

Any tips, advice or reality checks would be greatly appreciated!
