Hello,
After 09/17, I will be done with my language school. After that date, I know my **student visa will no longer be valid after that date**.
I went to Foreign Residents Support Center (FRESC) and was told to update immigration about my activity after 09/17 (which I will do via the online system) and that I can stay for an extra 3 months without consequences. During these three months, **I’m in job processing** (trail tests, interviews, etc).
Unfortunately, I have found out that my dad has cancer, and I would like to try to see him before his death because according to him he only has a couple of months to live. But since technically I am **not under a visa after 09/17**, I am not sure if I am able to go to America and come back to Japan to continue my job search.
Is there a possibility for me to go to America for about 1-2 weeks, then come back to Japan? If I leave Japan, would I need a valid visa to come back? I know there is a **Re-entry Permit**, **but I’m not sure if I can apply because of my visa status**.
This whole situation is bad timing because I have job interviews and upcoming trial tests coming, so if I do get a job, then (i heard) it will take about a month to process for a work visa. During that time, am I allowed to leave and come back to Japan?
I know I should go to immigration, honestly, that place scares me. Or should I go back to Foreign Residents Support Center (FRESC)?
\*Note: I hope the flair is right.

Do you have a bachelor’s degree? If so you should be able to get the designated activities residence status.
