Bento boxes takeaway at restaurants for hikers

I'm wondering if it's possible to order a bento-style takeaway at Japanese restaurants in nature/hiking-focused areas (not in cities).

I know that at mountain huts and perhaps some ryokans, you can buy a bento box to take with you on your hike the next day – but I'm specifically wondering if local restaurants would be happy to prepare something like that if I provide my own bento container or if restaurants offer a 'bento-style' takeaway meal specifically for hikers.

Would it be considered rude if I ask if they prepare a normal menu item in a bento box I provide for them or can this be considered normal practice in Japan?

I would understand that they would decline due to health/contamination reasons and I can just easily order normally and just transfer all the food in my own container…but wondering if a system like this exists!

As many of you know, garbage collection is non-exisitent in some areas and I would also like to refrain from buying multiple, packaged foods to minimize waste. I also don't mind the luxury of having a nice meal rather than store bought snacks! 🙂
