so I've been working in this Japanese company for at least 9 months already as a 会社員 (permanent) and I just told them that I want to resign by next month last Friday, September 13th. in the contract it says we have to file a resignation at least 6 months before but who are we kidding right? I asked some of the employees that has been working with them for years, no one exactly has filed a resignation 6 months before. it is the usual a month before or maybe 3 months ahead but not 6 months. My position is not some special position at the company but since I'm one of the most fluent in English staff it will definitely make a big difference without me working with them. they denied my resignation. called me disrespectful and not being grateful of being paid for months by them. told me I don't have any care for the company not coming to them before my decisions. btw the reason of my sudden resignation is because I got an opportunity to work in Australia and I'll be moving there by the end of October. I also think that I don't have to explain it to them with full details about all of my plans and goals in life. I just went with more than a month notice (accordingly to Japan labor law) since it is impossible to do the 6 months written in our contract. I mean isn't it just so impossible to do so? I don't wanna wait 6 months or ask the opportunity to wait for me. I wanted to grab it as soon as possible for myself and only for myself. I don't think I'm being selfish. I think it is just right to do what's best for our growth. So the talk is still ongoing and they will raise this to the head office. idk I kinda don't wanna stay anymore. It is affecting me so much physically and mentally that I don't want to deal with it anymore but I'm actually afraid that I might not get my last pay when I just go AWOL. lol istg working here in Japan for over a decade yet the system never fails to surprise me. working here in Japan is definitely not for the weak. and I can't wait to finally resign.
