Sendai day trips

Hi all! I'm spending a week in Sendai for a conference but I get some free days. I'm trying to decide what to do with the full free day I have on Sunday.

I won't have a rental car, so limited to within 2 hours by train/bus of the city.

Seems that most touristic things in Sendai itself close around 3-5pm so I'll try to hit those during the weekdays when the conference ends. I'm hoping to see (open to any other suggestions!):

  • Sendai morning market (earliest that it opens is 10 AM but is that accurate?)
  • Daikannon Statue
  • Zuihoden Temple + Aoba-yama

Then for the Sunday itinerary, I'm booking a Matsushima bay tour. I'm not sure which to pick if anyone has suggestions. I've seen these two private ones on trip advisor:

As opposed to the seemingly public cruises that aren't tours but just a ferry? I think I'd rather have someone guiding me around the islands themselves if possible, but if someone had a great experience with these cruises let me know!

Are there any beautiful viewpoints in Matsushima bay to try to see? Any daily outdoor private onsens in the area? I appreciate any help
