Baileys

Want to send some UK booze to Japan from the UK to some friends. Wondered if Baileys would be a good option; in that it’s fairly rare (I’ve never seen it there before). What are your thoughts?

  1. Nah they’re easy to find here and probably cheaper here than in the UK (due to lower alcohol taxes in Japan).

A Scottish friend was very amused when he realized that a bottle of his favorite scotch whisky is cheaper in Tokyo than back home in Scotland.

  2. Just for comparison, in December 2023, Freixenet Negro , a sparkling Spanish wine, 70cl, was £10.50 in Tesco, UK, but only £2.67p in Donki, Kokura.

  3. Bailey’s is somewhat rare in bars because a fair percentage of the Japanese population is lactose intolerant. You can still find it if you look around, but it may not be as readily available as other drinks
