We're in the process of buying a used house through a fairly large real estate agent in the Kansai area.
We've received pre-approval on our loan but not the final approval from the bank, which should come in the middle of next month.
Still, we are set to pay the down payment on Monday. I was OK with this as I assumed we were paying the bank, but actually we're sending the money directly to the owner of the house.
Is this typical?
