I just finished my second year of university, and I am beginning to turn my attention to career building as teaching in Japan has been my aspiration for years. I am attending university to get a BA in English and History (with a certificate in Film) and a Bachelors of Education. I already have 5 years of teaching experience and over 150 hours of in class teaching (spread across 2 years of my degree so far. I will be taking a CELTA course this summer, and also plan on tutoring international students at my university to get more money.
I should mention I am under no delusion about the current state of education in Japan, considering its low wages and oversaturation. While it may sound naive, I am not aiming to make a lot of money, I just want to find a school in the countryside that will allow me to get a farmhouse and just live quietly (which I am also aware might be a pipedream given the tanking population in the countryside). Even still, I am undeterred! My question is what I should be looking to put on my resume to bolster my chances of getting a job at a good school once I graduate.
