I'll be staying in Shinjuku this coming week and would like to find a nice bar where I can hang out and just have a couple drinks. Here LA I enjoy going to speak easys, so maybe there's something similar?
There’s a bar in Shinjuku called Lost that was opened somewhat recently by an expat YouTuber. I haven’t been, but I thought of it because you mentioned speakeasies. The entrance to the bar is hidden behind a bank of gachapon machines. It looks like a decent place with good cocktails.
It’s always worth going at least once to a real high rise bar to soak in the skyline at your leisure. The first that comes to mind in that area is BelloVisto, but there are a number of them.
If it’s not too much trouble, head over to Ginza instead of Shinjuku
As mentioned, the Lost bar in Shibuya recently opened by Chris. Heard stories how crowded it is right now.
