Visit fatigue and how to cope

So after not seeing them for 1,2 years, my parents are visiting me in Japan for the very first time. It’s their first trip outside of Europe and they don’t speak English, so everything is new.

I planned lots of stuff for us to do (totally realistic schedule though) and took time off work (almost 3 weeks) but after day 2 I already realized that I have to think of some coping mechanisms to be able to handle this visit. I am happy they are here, I am happy to see them but I feel overwhelmed and stressed, and being in charge of the trip (where to go, what to eat, no thats not meat that takoyaki-talks) is quite draining. I also havent been able to sleep well for few days before they arrived, so now I feel like the one with jetlag.

I do struggle with anxiety and depression so having a routine and time to myself is very important for me but I still want to show them as much as possible.

Also they are staying at a hotel (as I live in sharehouse) and until they figure out how to use train (again, they dont speak English) I have to bring them and pick them up from hotel a lot, which adds to my time being on the go.

Do you guys have some advice? Anyone experienced something similar?

I feel really guilty because they came all the way here and I shouldn’t be that drained after only 2 days but I am.
