Working holiday/humanities visa tax

I’m able to get sponsored by my current job to switch my working holiday to a humanities visa. I am effectively current freelance (this will change when I apply for the visa) which means I handle my own tax. This means at the end of the year I will have a bill of 20% (ish) as I am on the working holiday. If I change my visa status to a humanities visa, what will be the tax implications? Will the whole year be at a new lower rate? Will it only be effective from the date the new visa is approved? If I change next year (January for example) will I be eligible for a refund/to pay the lower? Sorry if this is the wrong post but I can’t find any information online!
