Yesterday I decided to go for a hike and after searching for viable options, I decided on Mount Ishizuchi, as it was the least troublesome to get there by public transportation (1 hour from Iyo-Saijo Station).
It was WOW! Went up the scenic 8 minutes ropeway ride, got to the top station, wandered around for an hour or so then returned in time for the one before last ride of the day (16:40). It was cold, and there were clouds above, beneath and where I was as well. Should’ve worn slightly warmer clothes ig but it was still fun. After descending back, I went around the ropeway station area – it was almost chilling, and looked straight out of Spirited away; Abandoned gift shops, nature covering many buildings and walls, and there was even an Onsen overlooking the gorge that I definitely would’ve gone to if I didn’t have to catch the last bus down the mountain. Walking around there I kinda felt like I’m gonna turn into a pig, the vibe was kinda eerie but still cool. One of the prettiest places I have ever visited in Japan.
Recommend!
I do think it’s worth mentioning that my accommodation choice was not good and getting around here (Ehime) can be expensive and difficult, so manage your time and plans wisely!
