Hi! Does anyone here know of any movies and TV shows that take place in the early Sengoku era (1467-1535) especially the Onin War? I do know of one series that takes place during the Onin War (Hana no Ran), but I have no idea where I’d be able to watch it.
Of course, the time of the 3 Great Unifiers is well shown in movie and TV format. Seen a few and aware of many others.

You could do a search on google to find some. Off the top of my head, here are a few:
1.) Aoi Tokugawa Sandai (covers the period from the death of Hideyoshi through Sekigahara and ends at the death of Tokugawa Tadanaga (Iemitsu’s erstwhile younger brother).
2.) Toshiie to Matsu: This covers the life of Maeda Toshiie, a samurai who rose through the ranks and lead to the formation of the 1 Million koku Maeda Clan through service with Oda Nobunaga and Hideyoshi.
3.) Komyo ga Tsuji: Covers the life of Yamaouchi Kazutoyo and his wife Chiyo, a footsoldier who rose through in service to Hideyoshi and ultimately becoming the lord of the 230,000 koku domain on eastern Shikoku.
These are NHK taiga dramas so there’s some license taken but it’s a decent place to start.
