Hi everyone! My friend and I (F23) are traveling to Japan for the first time from January 2nd to the 23rd through Narita. We're both experienced travelers, but I'd be lying if I said this wasn't a little out of my grasp/comfort zone in terms of planning. I'm posting this to see if anyone could help me nail my itinerary as there are so many options for what we can do.
Neighborhoods I've Compiled to Stay in Tokyo
We both have experience living and staying long-term in cities so we don't mind if our hotel is in an ambient area. We were considering staying in two different neighborhoods in the beginning and at the end to maximize our exploration of Tokyo and experience multiple facets of Tokyo.
- Shinjuku
- Akasaka
- Ginza
- Kichijoji
Things We Want to Do
- Stay at a Ryokan (Preferably has a private onsen because my friend has a decent amount of tattoos)
- A lot of shopping (specifically consignment)
- Nara Park
- SanrioLand
- See Mount Fuji
- Go to Sagamiko Illumillion
- We know we want to stay multiple days in the beginning and end in Tokyo, and we want to go to Kyoto, Osaka
- We're really interested in going to shrines and collecting Goshuin
- Basically we just want to go to really wholesome and cute things
- I am interested in seeing the Snow Monkeys but I do know it's farther away
Things To Note
- My friend is willing to drive if we decide to rent a car if it's easier for more rural areas
- I am vegan so that does limit my options in Ryokans
- Our budget isn't limited, but we don't want to be wasteful
