Hi Everyone,
I would like to ask for a little help as I got a mixed up about the requirements for student visa to attend a Japanese language school for longer period. ( For 1 – 1.5 year)
Do you need a full BSc degree to get a visa like that or lower qualifications are enough?
One language school’s website said that for visa support they need proof of 12 years of education in your home country if it is part of the OECD countries. My home country is part of that but in 12 years means you have just finished highschool. Can’t remember which school was this because I’ve checked dozens of them in the past few hours.
Yet, when I went to official government website it says you need diploma. But diploma from what? Highschool diploma or Diploma of Higher Education?
I’m curious because I’m studying for my BSc at a UK based university with a distance learning method. My original plan was to move to Japan after I completed the uni and received my degree.
However, I’m wondering; would I be able to get student visa even before I finish my last year? Because completing the second year would mean I’ve acquired 240 credits which is equivalent for Diploma of Higher Education.
If this is possible, that would be amazing because I could move to Japan one year earlier, sign up for a language school program and I would spend a year finishing the uni and studying the language in native environment. Furthermore, my main goal is to get a job in Japan so being there before actually graduating would mean I could spend more time with jobhunting.
I’ve never had to apply for visa even though I lived in 3 different countries already. So don’t really know how these things work. Any information is highly appreciated. Thanks ahead!
