Hello, (Throwaway account to keep privacy. Yes, I'm in Japan)
I'm seeking advice on a legal matter. I hired a lawyer in a distant prefecture to represent me in a legal case. After signing and mailing a power of attorney, I discovered that a forged document was used.
The local police have informed me that I must file a complaint in the prefecture where the lawyer's office is located. However, I've heard from others that I might be able to file the complaint in my own city.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Is it common in Japan to have to travel to a different prefecture to file this kind of complaint? What are my rights as a consumer in this situation?
Any information that can help me resolve this matter would be greatly appreciated.
