Serious question: In the city, if you go with a Nigerian guy who promises beautiful women, what actually happens?

Are these complete scams or prostitution or something else?

  1. He takes you to a bar where you’ll be accompanied by bored looking girls from South Asia where many of drinks cost 10k+ a pop (and you’ll be buying plenty of those for the girls too). If you’re not drunk enough to do that without thinking yet he might help you along the way by slipping something ‘stronger’ into your free welcome shot he promised you. When you get your inevitable 100k+ bill that you can’t pay with the cash on you’ll he’ll be taking that by credit card by threat of violence or marching you to an ATM if the card doesn’t work. The police won’t help you because how can you prove you didn’t just buy the drinks (and you actually probably did) and paid for it willingly. What evidence do you have that he put something in your drink and you didn’t take whatever is in your system yourself? Exactly, stop wasting police time please. Good luck remembering it the next day anyway thanks to your ‘strong drink.’

  2. You will meet a beautiful, well-adjusted and financially secure woman who will love you for your personality and nothing else

  3. You won’t get what’s promised & will lose money.
It might be a hostess bar, or a bar with nobody & extra fees that was not mentioned. It might even be a place where if you went in yourself it would be cheaper.

  4. Pain…either financial or physical, depending on how much you can pay after buying the most expensive drinks in your life.

  5. It’s ok only get scammed 100,000 or so. Most of my friends have encountered it and got it fine without paying. Cheaper than many actual places whose room charges and per head and champagne charges go beyond that

  6. Same as when a person of any nationality promises beautiful women if you go with them: trouble.

  7. Never understood how/why this is let continue, and how these men are here. I hate that if I see a black guy approaching me that I don’t know in Shibuya, Harajuku or Shinjuku I need to actively evade them. I feel like a fucking Karen but they’re so aggressive and persistent!

  8. 1. Not every black tout you see is Nigerian. This is like calling any Asian person you see Chinese. They are from a variety of countries.
    2. As someone who has actually done this multiple times unlike the people in this thread who think they know what they’re talking about because they read an article once, what happens is that they’ll take you to a girls bar, kyabakura or strip club. Those places use those touts to bring customers in. There probably won’t be many people inside; if it was popular it wouldn’t be using street touts. Prices are the same as anywhere else on the street. It’s no more a scam than any other establishment of that nature; some are just paying guys to bring people in from the street and some aren’t.

  9. I mean, you can go but never EVER go alone. Went alone in a drunken state once. Got drugged (Ofc) and they did the usual thing… my biggest “I’m so disappointed in myself” situation in Japan ever. After 5 years (at that time) I just thought “it will never happen to me” kinda thing.

Have been to those establishments before with friends and those times it was actually okay.

  10. My experience in Roppongi.
More than ten years ago on my last day in Japan on that trip, Some of the people who were on the same program as myself once used a tout in Roppongi to get to a cheaper karaoke place for our group (included Japanese people). We had dodged the offers for massage from Chinese ladies and other Nigerian guys who asked if we “wanna see titties?”. The karaoke place was a bit dodgy/stuffy but prices were pretty okay and some free drinks were included.
We also went to some club around there afterwards ourselves which was pretty chill. We walked out of another club after seeing it was empty when we entered. After some of the girls we were making out with had to get ready for school and left (I assume/hope they meant University? also note I was just 20 at that time), so we left the club.
After I went my own way around 5:00 in the morning to go back to my hotel I ran into these two South American ladies who invited me to a bar for one drink. I went up in the elevator. They passed the menu to me, I could see the prices were pretty steep. The two ladies started to say they wanted to drink champagne. I noped out of there (lucky I had sobered up by that time) and dodged the grinning Nigerian near the elevator joining another group on their way down.
By the time I got back to my hotel I had to pack and jump on the train to the airport.

My suggestion would be. If you want to check things out. Strength in numbers. Those Nigerians can handle a single guy, but if you are 5 or 6… They are less eager to send you to a complete ripoff it seems.

  11. Lol my guy, it’s hard to take your question here seriously, when you also asked in r/Thailand if anyone has married a massage parlor girl or bar girl.
