I have heard many times that once you lose your job, you have three months to find a new job, or you have to leave Japan. But because I was with my former company for around 5 years, Hello Work told me that I am eligible for 6 months of unemployment.
It is taking me time to find a job and I doubt that I will be able to make the 3 month threshold; my working visa expires at the end of next year. Despite the '3 month threshold' I have heard about, as I am eligible for 6 months of unemployment, can I stay in Japan for the duration and get benefits? Or do I have to leave once the 3 months after I lost my job are up?
