Recently, I have been thinking of applying for PR in Japan and was wondering if I should just wait out 10 years or secure it as soon as possible.
PR offers me a hell lot of flexibility in terms of moving jobs and more security if I lose mine. Loans, CC all will be so much easier.
Status:
1) On an engineer visa and past my 7 years. Came here with 3 years visa, renewed for 5 and next year will be my renewal year. Dutifully paid all taxes and insurance. No late CC payments or such.
2) Recently lawfully married with a Japanese in Japan and planning to buy a house in Tokyo next year or so.
3) Both of us are working and our combined salary is way above the recommended threshold of I think was 3.7m annually?
4) Did a simple calculation on PR calculator and currently at 90 points, 85 if I check 30-34 years. Going 35 in November.
5) No criminal offenses/fines in Japan except a time where I accidentally bumped into someone's car and reported to the police. No fines and everything was settled on the spot, just a report made to the police.
6) I am fluent in Japanese for any interviews if there is and no problem filling documents that are needed in Japanese.
I understand some points above may not be relavant but would like some advice from redditors here if these are sufficient to not get a rejection. I read that on paper, 5 years of stay and work in Japan is necessary but I heard the ideal is 10 years.
- Did anyone on engineer visa get their PR less than 10 years?
I am also thinking of self applying but I also do not want the lack of information/knowledge to cause a rejection.
- Is engaging a company that specialises in PR applications worth the costs? I researched some companies and mostly charge about 150k-250k depending on how personalised the application is.
