First I want to say, thank you to everyone here.
Holy smokes, yall had some awesome recommendations and we did way more stuff than we originally planned. Japan's train system makes a day where you think you can do 5 things to over 20 things in a single day! So thank you everyone 🙂
I do have a question about Ramen and snacks
I'm traveling back to the US tomorrow and got some seafood ramen and jelly snacks. Will these be okay in my checked luggage? The information online is kinda not super straightforward and was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with this?

Yes
Seafood ramen is fine. Jelly snacks are fine.
It will be fine – definitely declare that you have food, and they might ask you what kind of food – just answer honestly. I usually just say I have packaged food and snacks for souvenirs. Fresh produce, dairy, and meat are the things they will be concerned with.
You can get into trouble by not declaring even if the food would have been allowed.
Seafood is allowed since there are no barriers in the ocean.
Other meat products may not be ok.

Be careful, some instant ramen bowls have dehydrated sliced pork.
ichiran ramen in md cost about 15bux for 2 servings. Def ok to bring back.
Just got a friendly lecture from immigration in Raleigh, lol. We just said we had potato chips, and he asked what kind. Husband said plain. He said good. No meat flavors allowed (at length). Just smiled and said thank you. Wondered after though, because often processed food that is meat flavored contains no actual meat? Doesn’t really matter, we’re vegan 🙂 but curious!
You should declare ramen. There’s still broth and vegetables. Customs likely will bring in beagles to sniff the luggage.
