I'm someone who moved to Japan as a teacher expecting it to be a temporary thing, but right now, I'm really enjoying it. I'm considering what it might be like to shift this into my full time career instead of just spending a few years living in Japan. Currently, I'm an English teacher at an international pre school. My pay is okay, in my opinion, but I'm not actually a licensed teacher beyond a TESL. I have two questions.
- If I wanted to teach young children in Japan as a serious career, what kind of credentials would I need?
- How would I receive those credentials? Would it be possible to attend school online while still living in Japan?
Obviously, I have graduated college and have a bachelor's degree in both International Studies and Japanese. I also have about 2 years of experience teaching all ages. Note my plan is not to get rich or anything, I would simply like to live comfortably while teaching young kids in Japan. I'd just like some advice/information. Thank you!
