Looking for advice, can't make up my mind! I'm an intermediate snowboarder. Have spent time riding in the rockies and pnw. Planning to go to Japan to travel for 3 weeks and ride for about 4 or 5 days.
I'm planning on going first week of March so realistically hit the slopes the second week. I'm going to Japan to experience japanese culture, food, history, and it's intensity.
I'm torn between hakuba area and Niseko. I love riding in the trees and free riding all mountain. Niseko sounds great for it's powder, but the high cost and western influence turns me off, as well as adding more plane rides/travel.
I travel pretty cheap and don't have much money to splurge.
Hakuba sounds appealing because it's closer to Tokyo and it is more of a Japanese vibe. Theres also some cool cultural and historical sites nearby. The terrain is more varied and has many more resorts to try. Also I read it can be a bit cheaper. However, I'm considering whether the snow will be good in early march at hakuba.
Just look for advice, if anyone has been to either places that time off year and can speak on the snow quality and popularity etc.
