I see in the Meijisyo there is a fee a school would have to pay if they wanted to “poach” you from Interac. I was curious if anyone had any idea how much that fee is and if anyone has experienced that situation. Has anyone had a school want you badly enough to pay the fee to Interac?

My friend was offered a direct hire from a BoE once and they told him how much the fee was. I forget exactly how much but I remember he said that he would actually be taking a wage cut for a few years so the BoE could make that money back.
So it’s not a trivial amount, apparently.
Why would two schools get to trade you around like a slave, and make you pay for it?
From my understanding of labor law, a person can quit their job whenever they like. From what the GU says, non-compete clauses aren’t really enforceable:

And to collect on that, the school would first have to take you to court, which might not even be worth it, since it’s not that likely they would win. Even if they did win, they wouldn’t get very much. Probably not even enough to cover their legal costs.
But obviously, people should get legal advice from legal professionals before making any decisions.
