Inspiration from Japanese Culture Fashion Design

Hi guys!

Fashion student here(slavic). We were given the prompt ‚cultural Mashup‘ for a garment made entirely of white fabric.

I didnt want to take any inspo from my own cultural clothes as theyre really colourful and have a lot of embroidery, which I cant really do with white thread on white fabric, the silhouette itself wouldnt look interesting enough.

I recently went to a museum exhibition about Japanese culture and found the silhouette of Kimono really beautiful not just the patterns.I also love origami, which could easily be done with fabric( I made some butterflies).

But I‘m really not sure if its okay for me to take inspiration from that seeing as Im just a random blonde white person Whos never been to japan.

I really dont want to be disrespectful in any way or upset anyone.I know this question might seem so stupid seeing as its my assignmen but I really don’t want to do anything wrong.

Ive done a ton of research so I dont get anything wrong but Im still worried and unsure. I want it to come across as appreciation not stealing but yea please let me know.🥹🙏

preferrably Japanese people let me know what you think!

( I didnt want to ask my professor hes not really politically correct lol)
