I’ve heard Japanese schools are notorious for bullying and such with foreign kids (and Japanese kids in general).
For those of you who have kids – would you send them to local Japanese schools?
I’ve read that for example the American School in Japan is pretty much on par with a private school in the US in terms of pricing ($20K USD per year) so I’d imagine it’s not feasible for a lot of people.

Mine are in a Japanese school. No problems here. But I live in Okinawa, where there are more haafus concentrated in a smaller area, so it’s not so rare. My daughter’s school also has 3 completely non Japanese kids, they seem to be well accepted, but I do not know them personally enough to say they don’t get bullied.
Normal Japanese school in Hokkaido and Kobe, no problems
