I’m curious about the alternate pronunciation for this word. A shared pronunciation with wind is intuitive, but I’ve never known this word as ふうじゃ. It’s something I’ve just come across in my study. Are there certain situations where this pronunciation is preferred, or is this just a relic of onyomi?

It’s read ふうじゃ in the context of traditional chinese medicine, or specifically from the six evils. It’s similar to the four humours, and you’ll almost never hear of it in a modern setting.
