I arrived in Nov 2021 and leaving August 2022. I’ve heard residence tax is based on your income from the previous year. A little unsure what I’ll end up paying? Would appreciate any guidance!
Ask the local ward office. iirc, none in the first calendar year then if you are in Japan on Jan 1st then u owe the rest of that whole year.
I can only speak for myself, but I also arrived in Nov 2021 and am leaving end of this month. My supervisor said that I don’t have to pay residence tax, but prior to learning this, he estimated I would have to pay around 150000 yen.
