Daikiretto

Hello

Has anyone here climbed the daikiretto between Yari and Hotaka? Is it as hairy as the photos make it out to be? How would it compare to say, Mt Tsurugi (climbing from Muroda) or the ‘climbing route’ of Mt Kaikomagatake?

Thanks!

  1. I plan on climbing it together with gendarme during obon. Just in case we are staying at the huts to lighten the backpack. From what I have heard from other people it’s fine if you’re experienced with that kind of hiking/climbing and do it in good weather.

I’ve hiked Tsurugi from Banbajima and lots of other ones with chains and exposed sections like Okueyama so I’m fairly confident in my abilities. But lots of people have slipped and died. Definitely one of the more advanced/dangerous hikes in Japan.
