A quick and dirty way to get used to the sounds of Japanese

this is good if you already have like 1000 or so vocab and basic grammar because what you are doing is offsetting an RNG element by targeting specific stuff you want to get used to hearing and be able to identify in the wild

in this case I am targeting sentence enders, more specifically てなかったの?we know from the “te” it has to be proceeded with a verb, now punch that into kit immersion and tick the exact search. then set short to short or none depends on you.

now we get a bunch of sentences, now you can use your own knowledge or even mine some words or just use yomichan to quickly glance at the meaning to understand the sentence. remember you want to take your time with this, play it a couple of times, make sure you are immersing yourself and making sure that you can understand the sentence without too much effort. you will be exposed to new vocabulary and grammar but you narrowed it down to a bunch of sentences that essentially means the same thing and since you already know that grammar or just learned it you can offset some of that mental strain you otherwise would have if the sentences weren’t ending with the same grammar point or straightforwardness

and you get to hear how natives pronounce it fast, slow, clearly, unclearly, rushed. and the short sentences are normally straight forward and easy to understand.

do this as often as it stays fresh, this is more of a brute force method but you can practice so many different things with this one method
