Real estate agent work

I’m interested in hearing if anyone is a real estate agent in Japan? how they got the job? Was it difficult to get a license? What is the salary like? What are the hours like? Difficult to get into the business? Would anyone at any age be able to shift to this industry? I don’t think its for me but just curious what it’s like.

  1. If you become a real estate agent here you will mostly be dealing with foreigners.

Now the question is, do you want to deal with:

    – international students (who need apartments in expensive locations but don’t have the budget for it)

    – blue-collar workers (who come from underdeveloped countries and want to live in 2万円 houses that should still be convenient and nice)

    – language students (who are broke because of all they spent on the ridiculous fees for their glorified visa mill)

    – the occasional English teacher (who cannot speak Japanese and has a hard time even identifying themselves when the management company calls them for 本人確認)

    – the decade lifer (who is actually a good customer and knows all about how apartments in Japan work)

    – the would-be student (who is not actually in Japan and insists on reserving an apartment without their 在留カード and 住民票)

    – the person who doesn’t want to pay any fees (which is honestly understandable but places like that barely exist)

If that doesn’t appeal to you then you should probably walk away.

Also you don’t need the license to be an agent. You do need one to be a realtor, which is a whole different thing. My answer is for the agent job, which many foreigners do.
