Hello! I have recently started using a core 2.3k anki deck. I am not good at kanji yet since I am a beginner. for example there is a word 事 I dont know how to read this. I flip it over and I know what こと means I just dont know how to read the kanji so I got it wrong. Should I just keep doing this and memorize the kanji or should I use a new deck with furigana.

I use something different for flashcards but I had this problem and switched to cards with Furigana. I learnt a bunch of cards in furigana, but after I couldn’t read any of the words I already knew because most are usually written in kanji. I could only understand them if I heard them.
Some people recommend just learning the kanji form of a word. Apparently you’ll eventually match the kanjis to the words. I tried it though and it was taking me forever to learn to recognize the kanji forms of words so I gave up.
Now I’m learning kanji individually and with the words that use them. It seems way easier to remember this way although it’s extra work to learn them all at the same time.
I recommend building your own decks.
Study the kanji, it’s different readings, it’s meaning. Write by hand to get the hang of the stroke order.
Add it to your deck.
