Has anyone ship internationally in large amount?

In november i plan to open online store and ship from japan osaka for the first time

The package will be books, around 200gram, and the overall package should look like documents

But it hits me, if you ship about 80~100 packages will the post office guy ask you in detail about the items you’re shipping? Or will they just ignore you

Im scared if they sue me of making unauthorized side hustle ..

  1. 1 or 100 they will ask you what you’re shipping and if it’s not right one of the customs will stop it/charge you more

  2. If you have a company [or a 個人事業主 or whatever] while doing this, you can register for monthly payments at post office. Also all the labeling is online now, so there should be no reason to tell the post office what you’re sending. Show up once with a bunch of packages with books/whatever, explain that you’re doing this commercially, and just get it done daily/whatever as needed. I’ve been sending stuff through my local post office for years and they just ask “is this the same shit you’re always sending”? “Yea” – Ok, go on, fill out the paperwork and stamp here.

  3. Post office likely won’t care about anything other than what you’re sending. It’s not their job to check if you’re legally compliant as a business, which I recommend you make sure of before getting too deep into running it unregulated.

As for shipping, are you sending internationally? The post office may be inefficient and more expensive than other methods…

  4. These days you have to go through a whole online procedure to send packages abroad, even as a private individual sending to friends and family.

  5. No problem in sending stuff via Japan Post.Back before Covid started, I used to ship a lot of items to US via Jp Post, but now it’s hard.

They don’t usually ask what’s inside, it depends on the person. I used to ship small boxes like 10x10cm and most of the times it was printer parts and when I told them about it some of them wanted to see a picture of what exactly it was and if I shipped that item before and had no problem lol.

You can still ship some items like documents, papers, but packages is not possible right now. It’s been like this for like 2 years or so.

I could ship via other methods, but it’s way more expensive and harder to compete with other sellers that will ship or sell the item for less than me.

  6. I used to ship 10kg packages using JP Post’s EMS once/twice a week for a whole year. Since the package was big and heavy, I always asked for a pickup service. It was often the same guy who picked up and handled my packages but he never once questioned about the side hustle. Just the mandatory of what’s inside and warning me about the customs etc.

There wasn’t a single problem with JP Post, only with the customs of the country I shipped to lol.
