Anki sentence mining without a PC

I bought the mobile version of Anki on iphone to study on mobile, and I’ve downloaded decks. But most advice I see tells me to mine my own sentences. It looks like people use Chrome extensions to do that?

I have a PC at home but it’s used by other members of the family. I don’t have a lot of time to use it. I have a work PC but it’s locked down and I can’t install anything. I couldn’t even install the japanese keyboard on it.

So far I’ve added vocabulary words into Anki that I come across in graded readers. I manually type them in on my phone and it’s slow. Should I continue doing that for sentence mining? Any other solutions?

  1. Anki is definitely easier to use on the desktop/laptop. Can you afford a cheap laptop to dedicate to learning Japanese? I wouldn’t want to try adding any significant amount via a mobile.

Personally I import into Anki via spreadsheets (.csv files) that I either add to manually or populate using scripts I’ve written.
