RResidents in Japan

Does anyone know any bank that will open an account with less than 3 months remaining on your visa?

I have a time sensitive situation and need to open a bank account. I’m going to be renewing my visa shortly, but it may be too slow.

I must be bad at researching stuff here but I rarely find straight answers to questions like this. I don’t know if the 3 month requirement is something that banks decide individually, or if it’s law.

  1. I’m not sure there was this kind of restriction, but it doesn’t hurt to try. Probably the easiest is 7bank, since you can apply Online and in English. Or Japan Post Bank.

    But, either bank will probably deliver the atm card in a week.

  3. Only thing that usually is an issue is if your residence card is less than 6 months old.

    They can still refuse you service for whatever reason but never heard of that issue.
